Constraining Shipment Event Times By Event Type

I'd like to ensure my carriers can't enter an event for a future date (considering the system date or current date) for arrival and departure events. I understand the need to enter future dates in the case of appointments but for actual departure and actual pickup it seems like exposure to risk of demurrage.

Any thoughts on how this may be achieved?
